BASIC RULES

PG-Cricket is played by the Captains of two teams that take turns at batting and fielding.

The RED DIE performs the functions of the BOWLER.
The Bowler is one of the eleven men on the fielding team.

The GREEN DIE performs the functions of the BATSMAN.

The WHITE DIE performs the functions of the UMPIRE.
He is responsible for score-keeping and resolving disputes.

Fieldsman Batsman Score Marker

The Umpire's duties are shared by both Captains. They will take turns at counting and recording the score. Disputes are resolved by rolling the three dice together until the Umpire's Die AGREES with either the Bowler's Die or the Batsman's Die. The matter is then settled.

To begin the game the Captains will, in turn, roll the Umpire's Die. The Captain that rolls the higher number decides whether he wants his team to bat or field first. The Captain of the fielding team distributes his eleven men among the thirty-six positions available on the board. Having done this, he will BOWL BY ROLLING THE RED DIE.

The number on the RED DIE indicates the DISTANCE the ball will travel if the Batsman hits it.

The numbers on the GREEN DIE indicate the DIRECTIONS in which the ball can be hit.

The Batsman looks at the number on the Red Die and checks the placement of the Fielders on the board. He will then BAT BY ROLLING THE GREEN DIE.

The Umpire checks the field position in which the ball will fall. This position is indicated on the board by the GREEN DIE (DIRECTION in which the Batsman hit the ball) and the RED DIE (DISTANCE the ball travelled from the center of the field).

If the field position is OCCUPIED by a Fieldsman (as in Figure 3), the Batsman is CAUGHT OUT. The Umpire will mark the field position by placing the Batsman on the board and will record a score of zero next to the Batsman's number on the Score Card.

If the field position is UNOCCUPIED (as in Figure 4), the Batsman is NOT OUT. The Umpire will place a Score Marker in that field position as a reminder of the amount of RUNS MADE.

If the field position is unoccupied and the position following it is also unoccupied, the BALL WILL ROLL UNTIL IT IS STOPPED by a Fieldsman (as in Figure 5) or the boundary of the field (as in Figure 6). The Umpire will place a Score Marker in that position as a reminder of the amount of runs made.

The FIELDSMEN'S POSITIONS ON THE BOARD MAY BE REARRANGED as often as their Captain wishes. These changes must be made before the Bowler delivers a new ball.

When the Batsman is Caught Out, the Umpire will mark the field position by placing the Batsman on the board. He will also remove all the Score Markers while adding the runs indicated by them and record the total next to the Batsman's number on the Score Card.

When all the Batsmen are out, the runs scored by each Batsman is added on the Score Card for a team total. The teams change sides with the fielding team going in to bat. When this team is also out, the team with the higher score is the WINNER.

If at anytime the second team to bat accumulates more runs than the first team, they may declare themselves the winners.

With these easy to learn BASIC RULES, a full match lasts no more than 20 minutes.

We are sure you will soon develop your own style of play, however, we recommend that you monitor the performance of the Bowler and the Batsmen and, based on their performance, REARRANGE YOUR FIELDSMEN.
